Laura is our newest short-term intern at the Institute of Nature Conservation of Polish Academy of Sciences. Within the frames of her Bachelor thesis, she is working along AnthroBear project team as of September 2023 – testing the waters of ecophysiology while studying the structure of brown bear adrenal glands.
With a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, as well as systemic anatomy, she is making steady progress into elucidating the functionality of brown bear adrenal glands. More specifically, her research focuses on investigating the presence of a functional zonation in adrenocortical tissue using immunohistochemistry and microscopic imaging.
Recently, Laura had the exciting opportunity to assist in sample collection in the distribution area of the Dinaric-Pindos brown bear population in Croatia. Her curious and passionate nature make her a great addition to the team, where she will apply her knowledge, skills and ambition to expand our understanding of the brown bear physiology.
