We welcome Adrien Bommé, who joins our team for a 6-month internship at the Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IOP PAN). Adrien is currently studying for a Master in Environmental Engineering at the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers in Rennes, France. He is doing a gap year to gain experience for his professional goals and has used that opportunity to stay with us. This is not his first internship in ecology and conservation. A year ago, he spent six months at Alberta Parks in the town of Canmore, Canada. This experience was particularly focused on wildlife conservation issues and the coexistence of animals and humans in space.
During this internship, he will be able to participate in various tasks. In the first part, he will collaborate in the human-bear conflict research by processing and analyzing spatial-temporal data about human-wildlife conflicts. Eventually, he may participate in a second project around Artificial Intelligence applied to biodiversity monitoring. In the second part of the internship, his work will be focused on population health monitoring. He will also be introduced to conservation physiology research and work with physiological, biological and spatial data.
We hope this internship will help him meet his aspirations, which are “to continue in this vein and, in the future, to work in the field of research to enable better cohabitation between humans and wild animals, conserve wild populations and ecosystems, and educate the public about these issues.”
We wish you lots of success, Adrien!
