This is the fourth field season of the long-term study on bilberry germination and survival from animal faeces in Tatra National Park, where bilberry seems to be a crucial food for numerous species. In 2018, we started marking brown bear and mesocarnivore scats and bird droppings contaning bilberry seeds. Since then, we are checking every year how many bilberry seedlings have survived in each scat. It seems that bilberry seeds deposited by bears in their beds have more chances to become adult.
