Joanna holds a degree in Genetics and Experimental Biology from the University of Wrocław and has been a valuable support of our team since 2021. She is interested in neurobiology, neuroanatomy, physiology, and genetics of mammals. Joanna’s journey with our team began with her involvement in imaging microscopic slides of brown bears’ adrenal glands and gonads. In 2022, she undertook an internship with our team (Research team of Integrative and Applied Ecology at the Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow). During this internship, she managed biological sample databases, prepared samples for research, and documented results of histological staining and immunohistochemical analyses, among other responsibilities. Currently, Joanna is deeply engaged in laboratory work related to the collaborative project between IOP PAN and the Tatra National Park, focusing on the impact of the anthropause on the fauna of the Tatra National Park. She will be pursuing her doctoral thesis under the guidance of Dr. Agnieszka Sergiel. She absolutely thrives in the laboratory while sporting a crisp white coat, but she’s also not hesitant to tackle any “mucky” tasks out in the field! Joanna is very excited about the challenges and successes that lie ahead during her PhD journey. We’re thrilled to have her on board as a part of our scientific community.
